Sudipto Sen and Vipul Amrutlal Shah's upcoming Hindi-language Indian film "The Kerala Story," which tells the story of a group of Keralan women who converted to Islam and joined the militant Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), tells the story of these ladies. However, this movie has drawn criticism for claiming to be based on a factual story while making unsubstantiated claims that thousands of Keralan women had converted to Islam and joined ISIS. Political groups in Kerala have also stated their objection to the movie, stating it promotes Sangh Parivar agenda
The Movie Story:
The plot of the film appears to be based on the true experience of four Keralan women who changed themselves into Islam religion and went with their each husbands to Afghanistan region to join ISIS between the year of 2016 and 2018 . These women belonged to a bigger group of 21 Keralans who joined ISIS in 2016 and are being held in Afghanistan as of 2019. They surrendered in 2019.
